This document contains a very useful compendium of U.S. health care cost data up through 2015.  Based on national health care expenditure accounting sources, it provides a very useful set of graphs and charts that can be excerpted into presentations and reports. Prepared by the California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) it shows where health care spending has been increasing and what are likely to be continuing pressure points as we transition through changes to the ACA.

Sources are identified that can be used to access comparative information for employer health care cost management efforts. Given the uncertainty surrounding the political changes in the direction of national health care reform efforts, it is very likely that we will continue to see larger health care cost increases in 2018 and beyond, which are likely to translate into higher renewals for 4th quarter 2017 and forward in 2018.  This should act to draw employer attention back to employee health care cost issues and result in more pressure to have wellness efforts counter rising medical trend and benefit costs.
