This tool contains a detailed listing of consumer health education skills. Our definition of Consumer Health Education is: “The set of skills that enables the individual to efficiently and effectively utilize the health care system to resolve their own and/or their family members’ medical and health care related problems.” These skills have considerable effect on the health care utilization patterns that the employee experiences. The major concerns of this supplemental intervention strategy for wellness programs includes securing better health care services and experience, avoiding unnecessary health care use, protecting against iatrogenic health care risks and obtaining timely and appropriate health care services.
